MINDFULNESS with YOGA
Being mindful is about being in the present moment. Sometimes we experience tension in our mind-body because we are resistant to life. If we are not happy or don’t approve of our experiences, we can wire ourselves to tension and stress.
Solutions and the ability to learn are not found in stress, but in peace. Being mindful and accepting things 'are as they are', supports us in letting go of what we cannot change, allowing solutions to come to us, and appreciating the moment for all the good it can offer.
Our Virtue and Yoga pose for this week includes:

• An activity for divergent thinking based on mindfulness

• A poster on Brain Gym to help decrease stress and open the brain for learning,

VIRTUE and YOGA POSE of the week is an innovative program of combining yoga with emotional intelligence to help children grow stronger, overcome learning difficulties that relate to stress or self-esteem, and to grow confidence. Children’s ability to relate and connect to others will improve; bullies will build empathy; timid children will stand up for themselves; and children will build their character.
Each week’s feature uses the beautiful and original art by Monica Batiste who is a trained Fine Artist and Children’s Book Illustrator. Monica is also a published author of several books, and an educator on emotional intelligence and yoga.
Emotional Intelligence was first recognized by Daniel Goleman, and is considered the most important aspect of development for children to realize their full potential.
The five aspects of Emotional Intelligence are

This program is developed from taking 48 virtues and expanding them into activities and yoga postures to help develop each aspect of character and exponentially growing emotional intelligence.

Yoga has evolved from thousands of years of practice and supports inner peace, calm and mindfulness.
