Beach Yoga with Monica Batiste at Suttons beach Redcliffe

We recorded all beach Yoga classes during Isolation, and now that we are back at the beach I'm recording 3 a week for you to keep going.
I usually have Lisa Parella with me at the front to help me demonstrate, and sometimes I bring in some other students. If I could have it completely my way, I'd be showing you all of my lovely students as they do yoga, but some are a little shy.
Classes are till being recorded live, even if I haven't yet posted them here. To join in live you can log onto our Facebook page.

Gorgeous sunrise at 6.15 which we take as an opportunity to open our pineal and allow our intuition to expand. Intuition is an awesome ability as it will help you in every aspect of your life. Intuition is like a 'feeling' that something is off or something is on. It can help you know what is truth and what isn't. It can help you move in the direction of your dreams. If you learn to trust it, you will find life opens up many opportunities for you, and everything will improve. You learn to trust it by listening. It starts small; you might be about to go out and intuition says 'bring a jumper' and you say, 'nah, i don't need that.' then you go out and a sudden chill grabs you. Then you say 'oh I thought about bringing a jumper and I didn't. I should have listened.' Sound familiar? Well if you listen, and take the jumper, bring your camera, make the phone call, you will be surprised at how much you know about yourself that you didn't even know you knew. Try it. You won't regret it. Monica www.monicabatiste.com.au

Sunrise is getting closer to 6 and the weather is warming up. The weather here is hot by the first month of spring. So we might be wearing woolies now, but just wait a few weeks and you will hear us complaining about how hot it is. lol. We do live stream 2 or 3 times a week, and classes are on 6 times a week. 7 if you count our Kids Class on Mondays at 10am. Hope to see you soon. Love Monica for kids books and yoga books visit my website www.monicabatiste.com.au

August 15 2020

The rain kept lots of our friends away, but 5 braved the weather to join me. I keep them live during the rainy days so you can still come along and enjoy your yoga practise. How lucky are we. I love my friends. Thank you. Visit my website for more stuff www.monicabatiste.com.au

August 14 2020

Incredible to have fog as it hasn't visited us for years. No sunrise, although I'm sure there was. On Friday mornings the council cleans up the beach so you might hear the truck combing the sand. It comes close, but not too close. I hope you enjoy our beautiful class with friends. www.monicabatiste.com.au for more

August 10 2020

Chilly at first, but beautiful just the same. A slight breeze but that's normal for August. We always have the EKKA winds. EKKA is this week, but, it's been cancelled and we get the public holiday anyway.

August 07 2020

Spectacular skies this morning. An orange sunrise. Blue seas. Fluffy clouds. Good friends. Yoga outdoors is just sooooo nice. It's nice to know our German Friend Elizabeth is doing our beach yoga class at the beach in Kiel as we are doing it on the beach in Australia. Some of the many good things Techo has bought us. All classes have easy options, so do what is right for you in every posture. You know YOU better than anyone else. You've got this.

Today's class was filmed for Dianne. Now she isn't getting to class at the moment, as she is in isolation. So I'm making sure we have enough classes for her to get by. By the way Di, it was nice to see you the other day going for a walk as I taught my kids yoga class. You are looking so healthy and well. Hopefully 'all this' will be over soon and we will see your beautiful face back at the class.

July 30 2020

Teresa Vella promised me she'd be online today. So today I taught the class for her. But really, everyone benefits because we all have a body. And all bodies love to stretch and strengthen. But it was nice knowing my friend that I first met when we were 4 was watching me, Just like when we were kids and we played together at school. We danced together as teenagers (in our Dance Group). We sung together (my voice is meh. But her's is amazing. She's related to an opera singer). And we've gone through many of life's curves together. This is the least I can do to repay her for her kindness. (by the way Teresa, if you're reading this. You owe me $10. LOL) haha. no you don't. 15.

July 25 2020

A little visit from Ca$h. Some postures to calm PTSD. I'm wearing a cute beanie made my Louise Devine. Thanks Louise.

July 24 2020

Raining again. My daughters dog Ca$h comes in for a visit. He's so cute. I'm going to miss him and my daughter and daughter in law when they move.

July 23 2020

Indoor YOGA due to rain rain rain. Sometimes it's nice to be in the studio because we can hold the stretches longer, there are less distractions, and easier to hear. I put up my paintings of the beach behind me just in case you get lonely to see the sea. All classes finish with a meditation, and that really is the most important piece. A higher vibration will give you a higher life. Love ya. Monica

July 16 2020

Back in the sunshine. Soon the weather will be warm and the sun will rise before class. I know i've said this before, but I know from experience that it is true. Thank you for your ongoing support. YOU make the world a better place just by being you. Namasté Monica

July 13 2020

A light sprinkle of rain so we went to the pergola in front of The Pavillion. A lovely dry place which will host at least 8 of our friends. Halfway music started playing in the Pavillion, so some of this recording is muted. Sad face. But that's okay. It is what it is. I am where I am. And everything is perfect in its own time and place. I hope you are breathing deeply and remembering to love and accept yourself, just as you are. Monica

July 09 2020

Today's class is taught under one of the BBQ huts to keep out the rain. It didn't work. Perhaps because it is so close to the ground. My mat and clothes got wet. Ah. Well. We live and we learn. One of our lovely yoga friends Alex and her two children joined us in a corner. It's a good thing they are tough because it did get a little wet there too. Thanks for joining in. See you next class. Monica

Beach Yoga under the tree in the dark. Hopefully you will see enough or hear enough to follow our yoga class. Soon it will sunshine at the beginning of the class as the sun rises one minute earlier each day. Not long now and we will be meditating at sunrise. Thanks for joining me every day. Love ya. Monica

June 30 2020

Yoga under the tree. Every class is different because every day is different. the weather changes, we change, the atmosphere changes. Staying tuned in and tapped on no matter what is going on around you is the perfect practise for finding peace any time any where. We are doing our beach yoga classes at the beach even in winter because the sunrise is so worth it. Yeah it's cold, but Queensland cold is like spring. During the day, it's so warm, you won't even need a cardy. Thanks for joining me. Monica

June 26 2020

On the sand on Fridays. Watching the sunrise about half way. Listening to the ocean, the birds and having fun with my friends. You can join us for online classes and experience the joy of yoga and sunrise meditation too.

June 23rd 2020

Beach Yoga is starts in the dark about 30 minutes before sunrise. But when the sun rises over the ocean it's spectacular. We sun gaze during sunrise to activate our pineal and balance our hormones. Totally worth it.

June 22 2020

Lovely morning on the sand doing yoga. Yesterday was the winter soltace so that means we are in the middle of winter. As you can see, the middle of winter in Australia is still only cardigan weather. It's only when the wind is on that it is cold. The sunrise this morning was perfect, and Yolande introduced me to an awesome app that maps the stars when she takes a photograph. I've been very interested in the stars this week and learning about life on other planets. Something I've never really had the room to think about before, but with the Great Awakening, I'm learning a lot. In the meantime, sun salutations, love, peace, joy and alignment with our selves. namaste beautiful friends. Monica

June 19 2020

Friday morning. It rained after class. We are doing yoga in the wind and dark. SO MUCH dedication to all my friends who brace the cold and wind of winter to do yoga at the beach with me. My camera fell over many times and the wind whipped our hair, but you might be able to appreciate the postures in the comfort of your warm living room. And as we do in the cooler classes; squats, arms strength and planks. I hope you enjoy and are building your strength and stretch. The mediations in the last 10 minutes are always good. You can always just skip to that. :) NO you can't. You must do the whole class first. haha. Oh okay. Do it. Monica www.monicabatiste.com.au

June 19 2020

Tuesday morning 6am at Suttons beach in Redcliffe. It's dark when we begin, and the sun rises about 6.45. We are doing stronger postures in the cooler weather so you will get more planks and squats and pushups during yoga in the cooler months. You might notice my awesome Freda Kahlo shirt that I created and sell on RedBubble. Well it's a variation of this one now, apparently someone has bought her name, and i can't use it. But it is still my design of Freda. Wasn't she great? I loved her passion, her art and her personality. She said once that it gave her comfort to know that there might be someone in the world as strange as herself. And I can relate to that. Now that the world is changing, I'm finding there are more people out there as weird as me, and that is giving me comfort too.

June 15 2020

I am only recording 3 classes a week now, as the class has been missing my playing music. If I play music during our class and record it, FB and YT mute part of it, and then you miss out on talk and moves. I am trying to work around that though... maybe if I record it anyway, it stays unmuted on my iphone, and one day, when my website host is better at uploading videos, I'll be able to post it there unedited. So the next step is to find an old iphone that I can play music on, and record using my current phone. Stay tuned.

June 12 2020

Lisa and I both wore black at the front of the class this morning. Save for my pink hat (thanks Louise) you might not be able to see us. We did half moon pose to celebrate the half moon. It's such an awesome experience to be doing yoga on the beach with the sun coming up behind me and the moon above. By the time spring is here, the sun is rising at 530 and we no longer get the sunrise. It happens so fast. We only get about 2 months of winter. And even then, it's usually above 10 degrees. Thanks for joining in. See you next class. Monica

June 09 2020

Tuesday morning 6am. It's a little cool. The moon is still up. Sun rises around 6.45. When the sun rises we do a pineal activation, and at the end of every class we do a meditation. All classes begin with a warm up, followed by stronger postures, then slower postures and a meditation. In the winter classes are more focused on staying warm until the sun rises, and in summer we tend to do a lot of longer slower stretches. Every day is different, just like life. Namaste, thanks for watching and doing. Monica

June 05 2020

Friday morning 6am. On the sand. Two friends up on the grass. It's harder to balance on sand but isn't it great to be challenged. The sun is coming up after 630 so the classes are in twilight. Which is nice. And always glorious to see the sunrise. There were groups of swimmers in the water this morning. it was Fffffreezing.

June 01 2020

Today restrictions are lifted. AT 12pm! So we still had to limit the class numbers to 10 each class. This is the 845 class. We didn't record the 6am so we could play music. I will see if I can figure out how to do both.

May 30 2020

Saturday morning at Suttons beach. We are starting to see people come back to the beach to exercise. Lots of personal trainers who can't train at the gym. Individual runners instead of the 500 who did the park run every Saturday. It's great to see people coming back.

May 29 2020

Early Friday morning 6am class. Our 10 people per class limitation is almost over. From Tuesday at 6am we can accept 20 people. Yey. Today we await the sunrise and enjoy yoga on the beach. Me with my 9 friends.

May 28th 2020

We added a new posture today called 'Romantic Pigeon' colloquially known as Horny Pigeon. It's a great addition for increasing the hip flexor stretch. And it's fun too, to coo like a pigeon and puff out the chest. Join us 6 classes a week during the Australian winter. Hope to see you soon. Monica

May 26th 2020 6am

Yoga on the sand. No wind but cool. When the sun rose we did a pineal activation and imagined that our pineal was like a tiny golden sun sending its rays into our endocrine system and helping us become clear and switched on. I'm slipping in and out of PTSD every day... so today I am focusing on finding something to focus on that feels good. Something I'm grateful for. And something I like. With my deep long slow breath. All day every day I'm going to take deep breaths and seek peace. It's the only way through that helps me come out the other side better than how I came in. I'm also going to do some writing today on how you can move from the fear response to the fun response. I'm writing it for me. But I'm motivated more by writing it for you. Stay tuned. Take care friends. Be the light. Monica

May 25 2020 8.45 class

Sunshine yoga. We did some strength today with pushups and side planks and we all agreed we need to do them more - because they were hard and we want them to be easy. 'Back in the old days' when we could do plenty. We also did a pigeon pose and lots of stretching. Another beautiful day. I look forward to seeing you at the next class. Monica

25th May 2020

Our last class with Elizabeth as she returns to Germany. Not as cold as the weekend, with a beautiful sunrise. We did lots of warming postures then some stretching. When the sun rose we did a pineal activation to help us stay intuitive and strong. All classes are beginner to intermediate, and with all yoga classes you must respect your body and do what is right for you in every moment. Monica

May 23 2020

Cloudy skies and lapping waves. The perfect space for beach yoga this morning. I have my 9 friends with me and we were grateful for the peace that comes from being by the sea. I've had a stressful loop going on. Ruminating over the current situation. So I added some EFT to help us, as i know if I've got it going on, someone else does too, and it's always of benefit to come back to peace. After yoga we went for a social distance coffee and Marcel was there, he reminded me to 'Anchor the Light' and that zinged with me. Yes. That's what we must do. Let go of the fear and Anchor the Light. That's going to be my mantra for the weekend. If you are going through stress too, I encourage you to do several rounds of EFT (use my video or visit my friend Brad Yates he's got zillions and he's awesome). And choose a strong peaceful mantra for yourself. It is becoming clearer and clearer... Be the Light; Shine the Light; Become the Light. Namaste my friends. I'm grateful for you. It is because of you I have the purpose to do what I love (and paint). Love Monica.

May 21 2020

It was meant to rain, so I'm glad it didn't. It was great to see some friends at class that we haven't seen for a few months. We did 'Turtle pose' during the class which requires so much flexibility. I can't do it (yet) but it's nice to be challenged. At the end of the class a cute dog came and joined us. He was lost, so my daughter and daughter in low took him to the vet to have his tag scanned, and he should be back at home now. After class we had a picnic at Suttons Beach Pavillion. It was a lovely catch up. See you at the next class friends. Monica

May 19 2020 6am

Happy Birthday Blake! My nephew turns 29 today. Our early morning class is in the dark until the sun rises, and on days like today when the sun is behind the clouds, we don't get to do a pineal activation. But we do still get to be outdoors in the beautiful sea air practising yoga. The sun came up about 20 minutes before the class finished. Today I wanted to work more with pelvic floor so you might hear me mention it a few times. It's because on the weekend I was bouncing on the trampoline with my granddaughter, and my daughter joined us. As we were bouncing she said 'mum did you know that many women my age (she's 31) can't bounce on trampolines because their pelvic floor isn't strong enough?' And I didn't know that. It got me thinking how important it is to keep the pelvic floor strong, and how it changes everything if it's not. I'm in my 50s and I have not had an issue with my pelvic floor ever. Well, maybe once, in my 40s, after a doctor said to me my pelvic floor MUST be weak because i'd given birth to two babies. And I said 'no it's good' he shook his head and said 'it can't be.' After that I was incontinent for two weeks. Then I re-programmed myself and it's been good in the 15 years since. Funny how we do that. Not funny. Irony. So, on that note. Lift your pelvic floor 100 times a day and you will be good to bounce too. Love. Monica.

May 18 2020 6am class

Our first Monday back. It's dark. Hang in there. The sun will rise.
There are two classes on a Monday. 6am and 8.45. Originally it was because I had uni on this day, and since then I've been doing all sorts of things. Art classes. Grandkids. Stuff. For now though, I am teaching the two classes and when things are back a bit more, i'll hire a teacher to do the second class. Before lockdown we had Sandy teaching the class. We've also had Jeanie and Jane. It's perfect to have lots of different yoga teachers in your life to help you know the roundedness of your practise.

May 18 2020 8.45 class

Lovely again to be back with friends. The sun is almost shining. After yoga we went for coffee, which is also something we haven't been able to do for months. We still can't sit in a cafe though, so we sat on the grass in the park in front of the sculpture 'boat'. I thought about the time we all jumped on board this sculpture and sang 'row row row your boat' during the filming of 'Yoga in Redcliffe.' I miss those cays. The days were we could sit close together and believe we were safe.

May 16 2020

Our first group class at the beach after lockdown. We can have 10 people total. So there's 9 friends plus me,. It was a beautiful day to go back. Saturday morning class 7.30am. So wonderful to see friendly faces. All classes will still be recorded, so if you can't make it to class, you can still do the class.
